As part of the prestigious international conference, another panel discussion brought together the attention of local and international experts. Elmurod Ergashev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Uzbek Geology Exploration JSC, took part in the discussion and highlighted the company’s current capabilities and its strategic role in the country’s economy. In his speech, Elmurod Ergashev emphasized that the company is a major organization covering all modern areas of geological exploration. He particularly highlighted the company’s significant contribution to the fundamental development of Uzbekistan’s mineral resource base and the expansion of underground resources. The conference participants were also briefed on the metallogenic potential of the Chatkal-Kurama region and the geological exploration projects being implemented by Uzbek Geology Exploration JSC in the area to identify mineral deposits. It is worth noting that the event is also providing an in-depth discussion of the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence and large volumes of geological data to improve the efficiency of discovering new deposits, as well as the use of advanced analytical tools, predictive modelling, and new technologies for collecting and processing geological and geophysical data.

From September 14 to 16, 2026, Tashkent is hosting the GEOMIN-2026 international conference, bringing together representatives of geology, the mining industry, and mineral resources from 26 countries around the world. The event is organized by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), with the support and participation of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The main theme of GEOMIN-2026 is “Advancing Geological Exploration through Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation.” The conference has become an international platform for discussing new approaches to mineral exploration, advancing technologies, sharing professional expertise, and expanding cooperation among government institutions, geological services, industrial enterprises, academia, and technology companies. GEOMIN-2026 brings together representatives of more than 70 organizations from 26 countries. The program features more than 100 presentations, 25 technical sessions, speeches by 34 keynote speakers, and three high-level panel discussions. Representatives of Uzbek Geology Exploration JSC are also actively participating in the conference, presenting exhibitions showcasing the company’s services.

One of the leading publications of the Republic of Korea, The Chosun Daily, has published an article by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev titled “Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea: Partnership Striving Towards the Future in an Era of Change.” The article places particular emphasis on the historical ties between Uzbekistan and Korea, the special strategic partnership between the two countries, trade and investment relations, as well as prospects for bringing bilateral relations to a new technological level. ❗As noted in the article: 🔵 in recent years, the volume of bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Korea has increased fivefold; 🔵 the volume of Korean investments in Uzbekistan’s economy has exceeded $8 billion; 🔵 more than 700 joint ventures and projects with Korean capital are currently being implemented in our country; 🔵 the total portfolio of projects carried out in cooperation with KOICA, the Korea Eximbank and EDCF exceeds $3.5 billion; 🔵 in 2025, the combined gross domestic product of the Central Asian countries exceeded $500 billion. The President emphasized that the complementary nature of the two countries’ economies offers significant opportunities for creating new drivers of growth, stressing the importance of taking cooperation to the level of establishing common production systems, technological platforms and new markets. “I am confident that it is precisely on this basis that we can open a new page in our cooperation — moving from successful cooperation in individual areas to the formation of common production systems, technological platforms and new markets. This will provide an even stronger foundation for the sustainable and long-term prosperity of our countries.” The article identifies artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics, electric vehicles, biopharmaceuticals, smart agriculture and smart cities as promising areas of cooperation. It also recognizes the importance of investing in education and human capital, expanding academic exchanges and joint scientific research. The President also placed particular emphasis on the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit as an important platform for taking cooperation not only between Uzbekistan and Korea, but with the entire region, to a new level. “...Uzbekistan intends to put forward a number of relevant initiatives aimed at deepening political dialogue, expanding practical cooperation and establishing new, effective partnership mechanisms. These initiatives are intended to bring the “Central Asia–Republic of Korea” format to a qualitatively new level and transform it into a more systematic, dynamic mechanism focused on long-term regional priorities.” As noted in the President’s article, the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea serves not only to strengthen bilateral relations, but also to create new opportunities for peace, stability, innovation and shared development in Central Asia. “I sincerely believe that Central Asia and the Republic of Korea can create a new space for cooperation based on peace, innovation, mutual trust and shared prosperity,” the Head of State said in the article. 🔥 For reference: The Chosun Daily is a publication belonging to the Chosun Ilbo media group, established in 1920, and is one of the major information platforms in the Republic of Korea. On September 13 this year, an international roundtable titled “Modern Geology: Policy, Technologies, Regional Studies and Human Capital” was held in Tashkent as part of GEOMIN 2026. The event was opened by Feruza Khamidova, First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event brought together heads and representatives of geological services, scientific organizations and sectoral institutions from Uzbekistan, France, Finland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Türkiye, the United States and other countries, as well as international professional organizations. Particular attention was paid to the digital transformation of the sector and modern methods of conducting geological research. The participants discussed the use of artificial intelligence in processing geological, geophysical and geochemical data, the integration of various research methods, and the development of 3D models and digital twins.

In a series of intense and competitive matches, our colleagues, who work together day and night in the field, faced off against each other on the football pitch. Each team demonstrated excellent technique, attractive football, and true team spirit. Matches between teams made up of young specialists and experienced geologists provided fans with exciting and unforgettable moments. At the end of the tournament, the winning and prize-winning teams were deservedly recognized by the company’s management.

An intellectual game, “Zakovat,” was organized among the departments of the Tashkent Central Geological Exploration Expedition with the aim of further strengthening employees’ intellectual potential, logical thinking, and team spirit. During the intense and highly competitive contest, the participating teams demonstrated their knowledge and ingenuity by answering questions covering a wide range of topics, including logic, history, science, and general knowledge. Based on the final results, the top-performing teams were duly recognized and awarded. Commemorative gifts were presented to the winning and prize-winning teams. Such intellectual competitions play an important role in fostering a healthy competitive environment within the team, providing meaningful leisure activities for employees, and strengthening friendship and unity among colleagues. “Zakovat” is not only a competition of knowledge, but also a platform for unity, ingenuity, and new ideas.

Trip to Zomin National Nature Park   In order to organize meaningful leisure activities for the employees of the Complex of Analytical Laboratories, strengthen a healthy moral and psychological atmosphere within the team, and further develop friendly relations among employees, a trip to Zomin National Nature Park was organized. During the trip, the employees enjoyed Zomin’s unique nature, fresh mountain air, and beautiful scenery. Spending enjoyable time in nature brought everyone a positive mood and uplifting emotions. The trip contributed to spending employees’ leisure time meaningfully, appreciating and enjoying nature, as well as strengthening a sense of unity and team spirit among colleagues.             Prospects for Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Serbia in the Mining Industry Discussed On September 7, 2026, the first meeting of the Uzbekistan–Serbia Intergovernmental Commission was held in Belgrade. The meeting was attended by F. Khamidova, First Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan. As part of the meeting, representatives of the Ministry held discussions with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia, as well as representatives of GOSA FOM, a company specializing in the production of equipment and machinery for the mining, metallurgical, and energy industries. The meeting focused on expanding the production of specialized machinery, introducing advanced technologies, developing industrial cooperation, and strengthening the material and technical base of the mining industry.
